Deleterio is a video poem produced in computer graphics, created by Soraya Braz and Fabio FON. This work shows a predominantly green and yellow environment under the chord rhythm of the Brazilian national anthem played by the sounds of revolver shots. The environment is full of gross visual pieces where the word “delete” prevails, which today refers to deleting computer files, but in its Latin origin, it already meant something like “destroy this” or “eradicate this”. The earliest recorded uses in history of “dēlēte” referred to annihilating enemy armies and populations. Thus, in its allegorical construction, when “delete” is continually reiterated, the work seeks to highlight the obtuseness and harmfulness of certain contemporary discourses.

Soraya Braz is a Brazilian art-technology artist and researcher, living and working in São Paulo. She is Bachelor in Plastic Arts from University of São Paulo (USP), Master of Visual Arts from São Paulo State University (UNESP). Her creations are visual arts, visual poetry, installations and computer graphics. Took part in exhibitions such as FILE, FILE PAI, MOBILEFEST, Mostra SESC de Artes, FACTORS, Artéria 40 anos, etc. Works in partnership with the artist Fabio FON with whom produced Roaming (2007), Grampo (2007), Captas (2010), Via Invisível (2011), Deliberator (2014) and Deletério (2021). She is also a researcher linked to cAt Group: science/ ART /technology at UNESP, São Paulo.
Fábio Oliveira Nunes is a Brazilian artist-researcher focused on contemporary languages, working on experimental art, visual poetics and art-technology. He holds Arts PhD from the School of Communications and Arts of the University of São Paulo, a post-doctorate in Arts from the Institute of Arts of Unesp, a Master in Multimedia (Multimedia) at UNICAMP and Bachelor of Fine Arts at UNESP. He is the author of the books “CTRL+ART+DEL: distúrbios em arte e tecnologia” (Ed. Perspectiva, 2010) and “Mentira de artista: arte (e tecnologia) que nos engana para repensarmos o mundo” (Cosmogonias Elétricas, 2016). He is currently a researcher linked to cAt Group: science / ART / technology at UNESP, São Paulo.
